Huawei Poised to Lead Morocco’s 5G Rollout Amid Growing Competition

Huawei, already active in Morocco through partnerships with local operators Maroc Telecom and Orange Maroc, is positioned to maintain a competitive edge over Western rivals like Nokia, Ericsson, and Oracle in the country’s ambitious 5G rollout.

The selected provider will play a key role in meeting Morocco’s ambitious 5G coverage goals, which include delivering coverage to 25% of the population by 2026 and expanding it to 70% by 2030, aligning with the country’s role as a co-host for the 2030 World Cup. The six cities hosting the tournament will enjoy full 5G coverage, marking a significant milestone for Morocco’s digital infrastructure.

With 5G offering download speeds up to 100 times faster than 4G and latency as low as 1 millisecond, it is expected to revolutionize the country’s digital landscape. Morocco is already one of Africa’s leaders in internet penetration, with a rate of 90.7%, positioning it for rapid adoption of next-generation mobile technology.
