Ericsson and Ooredoo Qatar Partner to Accelerate 5G Integration and Digital Transformation

Ericsson has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ooredoo Qatar to advance digital transformation efforts across enterprises and public sector entities in Qatar. The partnership will focus on developing industry-specific 5G solutions, including private networks for sectors such as manufacturing, airports, and oil and gas.

The collaboration will also introduce mission-critical solutions for public safety, digital airspace, and railway networks, ensuring resilient performance through network availability, security, and optimized Quality of Service (QoS). Additionally, the MoU will explore sustainability initiatives, using 5G technology to minimize environmental impact, decarbonize industries, and contribute to a sustainable digital ecosystem.

Ericsson will provide its Private 5G and mission-critical network solutions, alongside key ecosystem partners, and offer Ooredoo access to global best practices and insights. The partnership also aims to facilitate expert knowledge-sharing sessions on 5G-driven sustainability applications. Both companies will collaborate to enhance operational efficiency, revenue growth, and innovation across Qatar’s industries.

Thani Al Malki, Chief Business Officer at Ooredoo Qatar, highlighted the increasing adoption of digitalization and automation by enterprises to drive innovation. This partnership with Ericsson aims to deliver advanced private 5G use cases across multiple sectors, from autonomous operations to mission-critical public services.

In addition, the deal will lay the foundation for the integration of 5G-Advanced (5G-A), with future advancements including interference reduction, AI-driven RAN solutions, and the extension of 5G coverage to remote areas. Ericsson will also supply RAN products and advanced microwave solutions to enhance 5G performance in challenging environments, with plans for nationwide deployment and improved network efficiency.
