Telesat has announced a multi-year partnership with ADN Telecom, a leading telecommunications provider in Bangladesh, to deliver Telesat Lightspeed low earth orbit (LEO) connectivity solutions across Bangladesh and South Asia.
With over 55 years of experience in satellite operations and engineering, Telesat has developed its state-of-the-art LEO network to meet the demanding connectivity needs of telecom, enterprise, and government sectors. The fully funded Telesat Lightspeed constellation is currently under development, with the first satellite launches scheduled for the second half of next year.
As part of this partnership, Telesat will provide its Lightspeed services along with a Smart Virtual Network Operator (VNO) capability, enabling ADN Telecom to offer tailored connectivity solutions to its enterprise, maritime, and government clients. ADN Telecom will also participate in early field trials of the Telesat Lightspeed services and plans to launch full-time services by late 2027, offering industry-leading data rates and guaranteed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
The two companies will work together to obtain local regulatory approvals for the deployment of Telesat Lightspeed services in Bangladesh.
Glenn Katz, Chief Commercial Officer at Telesat, said, “We are honored to be selected by ADN Telecom to provide multi-Gbps connectivity and unique service advantages that will drive long-term growth. Our MEF 3.0 standards-based LEO services will seamlessly integrate with ADN’s terrestrial network to expand the reach of their offerings both locally and internationally.”
Asif Mahmood, Chairman of ADN Telecom, added, “By integrating the advanced Telesat Lightspeed LEO network capabilities, we’re enhancing our commitment to delivering innovative technologies that empower our customers. After careful consideration of next-generation satellite solutions, we are confident that Telesat Lightspeed will provide the most secure, flexible, and resilient architecture for our future services.”
