Bahrain and Kuwait Strengthen Strategic Partnership in Transportation, Telecommunications, and Digital Transformation

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, praised the strong, strategic, and economic partnership between Bahrain and Kuwait. He highlighted the relationship as a model of Gulf and Arab integration, underscoring the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Amir of Kuwait.

During his official visit to Kuwait, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment, under the leadership of Crown Prince and Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to advancing cooperation with Kuwait. He emphasized both countries’ shared focus on enhancing transportation, communications, infrastructure, digital transformation, and the safety of air and maritime navigation to serve mutual development goals.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla met with Dr. Noura Mohammed Al Mashaan, Kuwait’s Minister of Public Works, to discuss collaboration in transportation, logistics, and the development of land and maritime infrastructure. The discussions focused on improving regional connectivity and promoting development within the GCC framework.

Both parties also explored ways to boost cooperation in ports and maritime navigation, with an emphasis on safety, trade facilitation, tourism promotion, and expanding the scope of existing agreements and MoUs to meet international standards.

Dr. Al Mashaan expressed gratitude for Bahrain’s cooperation in transport and logistics, stressing Kuwait’s commitment to advancing joint efforts that align with both nations’ strategic objectives.

In addition, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla held talks with Omar Saud Al Omar, Kuwait’s Minister of State for Communications Affairs, on expanding cooperation in telecommunications, digital infrastructure, and emerging technologies such as AI. The meeting also covered ongoing digital transformation projects, particularly with Bahrain leading the Arab League Council and Kuwait presiding over the fifth session of the Digital Cooperation Organisation.

Minister Al Omar affirmed Kuwait’s pride in its long-standing ties with Bahrain and its commitment to furthering bilateral collaboration in telecommunications and innovation.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla also met with Sheikh Hamoud bin Mubarak Al Sabah, President of Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Authority. They discussed cooperation in civil aviation, including technical expertise exchange, adopting international best practices in aviation safety and security, and supporting digital transformation and logistics services.

The meeting explored activating bilateral and GCC-level agreements and projects, focusing on regional connectivity, travel, tourism, and trade, while promoting sustainable development goals. Sheikh Hamoud expressed appreciation for the fruitful partnership between Bahrain and Kuwait, emphasizing their mutual dedication to enhancing civil aviation and logistics collaboration.
