Grameenphone Pioneers Agentic AI OSS/BSS Solution with Ericsson and AWS Gen-AI Lab

Grameenphone, Bangladesh’s leading mobile communication service provider, has become the first CSP to leverage the new Ericsson and AWS Gen-AI Lab to develop an Agentic AI-powered OSS/BSS solution. The Gen-AI Lab is a global initiative by Ericsson and AWS aimed at accelerating AI innovation within Operations Support Systems (OSS) and Business Support Systems (BSS) for communication service providers worldwide.

Combining Ericsson’s OSS/BSS expertise and portfolio with AWS’s cloud infrastructure and AI capabilities—including Amazon Bedrock—the Lab provides a structured, outcome-driven environment enabling CSPs to rapidly address OSS/BSS challenges through generative AI technologies. Agentic AI, a novel autonomous, goal-oriented AI, is used by Grameenphone to automate complex OSS/BSS processes, enhancing operational efficiency, improving service delivery, and accelerating business growth.

Grameenphone’s current project at the Lab focuses on automating the migration of its legacy product catalog to Ericsson Catalog Manager—a process traditionally requiring extensive manual effort and specialist knowledge. The solution employs generative AI agents to analyze Grameenphone’s existing catalog, translate it into business requirements and designs, configure products on the new platform, and perform rigorous testing to ensure accuracy. This automation streamlines operations, standardizes documentation for auditability, boosts offer reusability, and significantly reduces time-to-market for new products.

The Gen-AI Lab complements Ericsson’s expanding OSS/BSS AI portfolio, including the Ericsson Telco Agentic AI Studio—an Agentic AI tool that accelerates generative AI application development powered by Amazon Bedrock. Ericsson offers over 20 AI-powered Telco IT applications that enhance core commerce, service orchestration, monetization, analytics, and managed services across its OSS/BSS suite.

Grameenphone’s innovative solution and the Gen-AI Lab will be showcased at the upcoming DTW Ignite event in Copenhagen, June 17–19, highlighting the collaborative drive toward intelligent telecom transformation.

Solaiman Alam, Chief Product Officer at Grameenphone, expressed pride in the partnership, emphasizing its role in enhancing agility and enabling sustainable growth through advanced AI technologies. David Hägerbro, Head of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, praised Grameenphone’s leadership in pioneering the Gen-AI Lab collaboration and setting new industry benchmarks.

This initiative exemplifies the fusion of AI and telecom expertise to modernize CSP operations, driving digital transformation and unlocking new opportunities in Bangladesh and beyond.

Grameenphone’s collaboration with Ericsson and AWS marks a significant step toward AI-enabled automation in telecom, demonstrating the potential of Agentic AI to revolutionize service development and operational efficiency.

The partnership underscores a shared vision to harness cutting-edge AI tools for faster, more contextual product development and enhanced customer experiences.

By adopting generative AI-driven solutions, Grameenphone is positioning itself at the forefront of innovation, setting a precedent for CSPs globally.
