Qatar Airways Launches Live Inflight Sports Streaming with IMG and Starlink Technology

For the first time, Qatar Airways passengers can stream high-definition live coverage of major global sports events via IMG’s Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra channels directly on their personal devices using a dedicated web player. This groundbreaking service is enabled by Starlink’s ultra-fast, low-latency internet and represents the first instance of Sport 24 being available beyond the traditional inflight entertainment system on any airline.

Qatar Airways, the largest airline globally to adopt SpaceX’s Starlink onboard connectivity, aims to revolutionize the inflight experience. CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer emphasized the airline’s commitment to keeping passengers connected to key sporting moments at 35,000 feet, catering to fans of football, tennis, and more.

Adam Kelly, President of IMG, highlighted live sports as a unique real-time entertainment genre and praised Qatar Airways for enabling fans to enjoy Sport 24 on the go. The service is accessible on Starlink-equipped aircraft via mobile, tablet, or laptop by scanning a QR code.

The launch coincides with a summer lineup of live sports including FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, Wimbledon, Formula 1, and cricket, among others. Sport 24’s portfolio features premier global competitions such as the FIFA World Cup 26™, Premier League, UEFA Champions League, NFL, NBA, and more.

Owned and produced by IMG from its UK headquarters, Sport 24 is the only live sports channel broadcast worldwide on airlines and cruise ships, having reached over 10 million inflight viewers last year.
