Space42 Launches Thuraya Mobile Broadband Hotspot to Deliver Reliable Satellite Connectivity in Remote and Maritime Environments

Space42, the UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company, announced the commercial availability of the Thuraya Mobile Broadband Hotspot (MBH) terminal, designed to provide secure and reliable L-band satellite connectivity for land and maritime users operating in remote or challenging environments. Available from June 19, 2025, Thuraya MBH addresses critical connectivity gaps where terrestrial networks are limited or absent, supporting commercial and government operations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia.

Built for multipurpose use, Thuraya MBH serves as a versatile backup to VSAT and terrestrial 4G/5G infrastructures. Its rugged design meets IP67/IP68 durability standards and includes features such as tracking, geofencing, and distress alerts. The terminal ensures secure communications with multi-level access controls, SIM pairing, PIN protection, and firewall management, suitable for mission-critical sectors like emergency response, border security, fisheries, energy, and transportation.

Thuraya MBH operates on the existing Thuraya satellite network and is compatible with the upcoming Thuraya-4 satellite, one of the world’s most advanced mobile satellite solutions. It supports various applications including push-to-talk, email, file transfers, IoT monitoring, and fleet management, with a user-friendly interface available in 15 languages. An emergency fallback mode enables text-based emails when onboard networks fail.

Sulaiman Al Ali, Space42’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized that Thuraya MBH integrates satellite mobility with existing infrastructure to maintain critical communications beyond the reach of terrestrial networks, ensuring operational reliability for diverse users on land and sea.

Space42 was formed in 2024 from the merger of Bayanat and Yahsat and combines satellite communications, geospatial analytics, and AI to serve governments, enterprises, and communities globally. Major shareholders include G42, Mubadala, and IHC.
