QIIB Partners with Visa to Launch Click to Pay with Biometric Authentication in the GCC

Doha: Qatar Islamic Insurance Bank (QIIB) has announced a strategic partnership with Visa to introduce the innovative Click to Pay feature integrated with biometric authentication. As one of the first banks in the GCC to offer this solution, QIIB is reinforcing its commitment to advancing digital payment technologies in the region.

Click to Pay simplifies the online shopping experience by enabling QIIB Visa cardholders to complete transactions swiftly using a unique identifier like an email address or phone number, following a one-time registration. The feature leverages Visa’s Payment Passkey Service, which uses biometric authentication—such as fingerprint or facial recognition—eliminating the need to manually enter card details or one-time passcodes, ensuring a faster and more secure checkout across all internet-enabled devices.

Users can easily register for Click to Pay through QIIB’s mobile banking app, benefiting from secure digital tokens that replace sensitive payment information. Built on FIDO authentication standards, Visa’s passkey technology enhances security by reducing online fraud while streamlining the payment process.

Khaled Abdul Rahman Al-Shaibei, Head of Business Development at QIIB, emphasized the bank’s dedication to digital innovation and security, highlighting their role as a pioneering issuer in the GCC. Visa’s Vice President for Qatar and Kuwait, Shashank Singh, praised the partnership’s alignment with Qatar’s digital commerce goals, emphasizing improved customer experience and security.
