CBSL Aims to Boost Daily Digital Transactions by 30%

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) is actively working to increase the use of digital payments across the country. Currently, Sri Lanka processes over 1.65 million digital transactions daily, which include payments made through online banking and card-based methods. To boost this number by about 30%, the CBSL plans to launch awareness campaigns throughout major cities, educating the public on the benefits and convenience of digital payment options. The target is to raise daily digital transactions to approximately 2.15 million. This initiative aims to promote a cashless economy, enhance financial inclusion, and improve the efficiency and security of payments across Sri Lanka.
