Airtel Africa Foundation Launches ‘Tech For Her’ Program to Empower Young Women with Digital Skills

Airtel Africa Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Airtel Africa, has announced the launch of its ‘Tech For Her’ Program targeting young women across Zambia, Uganda, and Kenya. Delivered in partnership with Tertiary DNS, this five-week intensive online course equips participants with in-demand digital skills such as Linux Administration, Cybersecurity, and Data Analytics, preparing them for global tech job opportunities.

Aligned with the Foundation’s mission of promoting Digital Inclusion in Africa, the program offers over 100 hours of flexible training—weekend classes for working professionals and weekday sessions for others. Eligible candidates must have basic digital literacy and a national diploma or higher qualification in Science and Technology.

Graduates receive 12 months of ongoing skills development support, with top performers (scoring 90% or above) qualifying for internships at Airtel Africa and mentorship from industry leaders.

Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, Chair of Airtel Africa Foundation, said, “Africa’s digital revolution cannot reach its full potential without gender equity. ‘Tech For Her’ levels the playing field by providing women with relevant skills and pathways to high-growth tech roles. We prioritize women from rural, underserved, and low-income communities.”

Annika Poutiainen, Committee Member at Airtel Africa Foundation, added, “We are committed to advancing women in tech. This program creates a pipeline of female leaders who will drive innovation locally and globally.”
