Mirantis Partners with Pico Public Cloud to Launch Bangladesh’s First Sovereign Public Cloud Service

Mirantis, a Kubernetes-native AI infrastructure company, has partnered with Pico Public Cloud—an affiliate of Fiber@Home—to establish the first sovereign public cloud service in Bangladesh. This new local cloud offering addresses challenges faced by users of offshore hyperscalers like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, including foreign currency restrictions, data residency limitations, latency issues, and lack of localized support.

Pico Public Cloud provides a cutting-edge, multi-site public cloud service based on open-source technology, ensuring full data residency within Bangladesh’s borders, native language support, and payments in local currency. This service enables enterprises in finance, telecom, healthcare, and other sectors to comply with local regulations while benefiting from ultra-low latency infrastructure with response times of 3 to 4 milliseconds.

Built on Mirantis OpenStack for Kubernetes (MOSK), the platform offers telecom-grade, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure with features like software-defined storage, secure networking, and lifecycle automation. Partnerships such as the collaboration with Banglalink extend Pico’s mission to deliver accessible next-generation computing, storage, and cybersecurity solutions nationwide.

Srinivas Tadigadapa, Strategic Account Director at Mirantis, emphasized the tailored approach to meet Bangladesh’s unique market needs, while Pico CEO Azad Chowdhury highlighted the significance of combining Mirantis’ platform with local operational expertise to guarantee data sovereignty. Fiber@Home Chairman Moynul H. Siddiqui underscored the role of the Tier-III certified Felicity IDC data centers in ensuring high availability and robust security for the cloud service.
