Morocco’s Digital Development Agency and Dubai World Trade Center Strengthen GITEX Africa Partnership to Advance Continental Digital Leadership

Morocco’s Digital Development Agency (ADD) and the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) are deepening their collaboration to position Africa as a major player in the global digital economy, with the GITEX Africa Morocco exhibition at the center of this effort.

ADD Director General Amine El Mezouaghi recently met with DWTC Executive Vice President Trixie LohMirmand to assess the achievements of the first three editions of GITEX Africa and outline future plans. Both leaders view the event not just as a technology showcase, but as a strategic platform that fosters startups, attracts investment, and strengthens Africa’s role in the digital future. This vision directly supports Morocco’s Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, which places digital transformation at the core of the country’s sustainable development objectives.

The renewed partnership aims to build a sovereign, interconnected digital space for the African continent. GITEX Africa Morocco has already become a continental benchmark, drawing more than 52,000 visitors and 1,450 exhibitors from over 130 countries at its most recent edition—a 16% increase in attendance compared to the previous year. This growth underscores rising international interest and Morocco’s emergence as a regional digital hub.

In parallel, Morocco is pushing forward with 5G deployment and expanding digital infrastructure to support a modern, connected economy. These initiatives will be particularly important as the country prepares to co-host the FIFA World Cup 2030, ensuring world-class connectivity and digital services for the global sporting event.
