Alipay+, a global wallet gateway, and Kaspi.kz, Kazakhstan’s leading super app, have announced the rollout of international cross-border QR payment acceptance in Kazakhstan. This development positions Kazakhstan as the first country in Central Asia to enable Alipay+ acceptance, reinforcing its role as a regional leader in digital payments.
Seamless Payments Across Kazakhstan
Users of 12 Alipay+-enabled payment apps can now scan and pay via Kaspi QR, which boasts the country’s largest merchant coverage. This includes shopping malls, restaurants, tourist attractions, convenience stores, healthcare services, and even businesses in smaller towns and villages. With this partnership, local merchants can now directly benefit from international tourism growth through broader acceptance of global payment options.
Boost for Tourism and Local Economy
In the first half of 2025, Kazakhstan welcomed a record 7.5 million international visitors. Many of these travelers can now enjoy seamless payments using their existing Alipay+-enabled apps, reducing friction at checkout and enhancing their overall experience. This move empowers local merchants to tap into global spending power while leveraging Kazakhstan’s robust digital payment infrastructure.
Building on Regional Expansion
The Kazakhstan deal follows earlier cross-border mobile payment collaborations between Alipay+ and Kaspi.kz that began in April 2024. It also comes shortly after Alipay+ announced a partnership with Idram in Armenia, the leading local digital payments platform, to launch cross-border QR payments there — making Armenia the first market in the Caucasus to enable Alipay+ acceptance.
These partnerships highlight Alipay+’s strategy of connecting global travelers with local merchants, scaling digital payment ecosystems, and driving tourism-led economic growth.
Global Reach of Alipay+
Alipay+ currently connects 1.7 billion user accounts from 36 international payment partners with over 100 million merchants across 70 markets worldwide, offering seamless payment solutions that benefit both travelers and local businesses.
