Egypt Expands ICT Sector with Focus on 5G, AI, and Electronics Design Growth

Egypt’s information and communications technology (ICT) sector is accelerating its growth, with significant progress in outsourcing, electronics design, and advanced infrastructure. By 2025, the electronics design industry has expanded to 83 companies, with plans to reach 120 by 2028. Meanwhile, the outsourcing sector has seen 74 firms commit to employing 60,000 specialists between 2022 and 2024, contributing to a total of over 260 outsourcing centres, including 190 managed by global companies.

At a high-level meeting chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and senior officials, updates were presented on Egypt’s ICT progress. The President directed continued investment in 5G networks, advanced infrastructure, and AI strategies, reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional technology leader. He also stressed the establishment of specialised training centres to prepare highly skilled talent, with transparent selection processes and advanced curricula.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat highlighted Egypt’s recognition as the top regional destination for ICT start-up investment, underlining the country’s growing role in global technology and outsourcing markets. He noted progress in investment attraction, outsourcing expansion, and the electronics design industry.

President El-Sisi reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting ICT development, calling for initiatives that emphasise research, innovation, and efficient resource use. By aligning infrastructure upgrades with human capital development, Egypt aims to strengthen its long-term competitiveness in the global digital economy.
