Barcelona, Spain – AFR-IX Telecom, a leading Pan-African infrastructure and telecom operator, has chosen VC4’s Service2Create platform to automate and centralize the management of its vast international backbone. The move marks a major step toward optimizing service delivery, strengthening operational efficiency, and scaling connectivity across Africa.
Service2Create, VC4’s next-generation network inventory and orchestration platform, will integrate with AFR-IX’s OSS/BSS systems, migrate legacy data, and streamline both logical and physical network domains. The platform’s capabilities—ranging from GIS-based visualization to impact analysis and full lifecycle control—will enable AFR-IX to consolidate oversight, accelerate provisioning, and enhance service performance for enterprise, government, and wholesale clients.
AFR-IX operates a unique infrastructure combining subsea and terrestrial fiber, with direct interconnectivity to dozens of African nations and global gateways in Europe. With growing demand for broadband and advanced services, the operator needed a scalable and future-ready solution. VC4’s Service2Create was selected for its proven ability to manage complex, multi-layered telecom environments.
“This collaboration is about more than software—it’s about unlocking AFR-IX’s full operational potential,” said Ricardo Varela van Oordt, VP of Global Sales at VC4. “Service2Create gives operators the power to automate intelligently, respond faster, and plan networks more strategically.”
Mike Dorland, CEO of VC4, added: “We are honored to support AFR-IX in its mission to deliver cutting-edge infrastructure across Africa. With Service2Create at the core, AFR-IX will be empowered to grow, adapt, and lead in a dynamic telecom landscape.”
Alejandro Caballero, Functional Process Analyst at AFR-IX, emphasized that the platform will provide transparency, control, and a robust technological foundation for continued global growth.
AFR-IX is also spearheading major projects such as the Medusa Submarine Cable System, a transformative 8,700-km network connecting 12 Mediterranean countries, and the Barcelona Cable Landing Station, Spain’s first open-access submarine cable facility. Together with Service2Create, these initiatives reinforce AFR-IX’s role in advancing digital transformation, bridging the digital divide, and positioning Africa as a global connectivity hub.
