Grameenphone’s Sylhet Data Centre Praised for Supporting Bangladesh’s Digital Transformation

Grameenphone’s Tier III-certified Sylhet Super Core Data Centre has been lauded as a model for Bangladesh’s digital future during a visit by Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser. The facility, inaugurated last year, is the largest among mobile network operators in the country and is designed to meet world-class standards for reliability and sustainability.

Taiyeb highlighted the centre’s robust design, advanced equipment, and automated monitoring systems, praising the skilled team that ensures secure and seamless operations. “Bangladesh’s digital transformation journey requires world-class infrastructure. This Data Centre reflects the forward-looking vision of building a technologically advanced Bangladesh with reliable, sustainable, and future-ready digital solutions,” he said.

The delegation also included Abdun Naser Khan, Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division, alongside senior officials from BTCL and Grameenphone. Khan noted that the government values private sector initiatives that deliver cutting-edge infrastructure to support the country’s ambition of becoming a global digital hub.

Md Abdur Raihan of Grameenphone emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability and technological excellence, pointing out the facility’s eco-friendly fire suppression systems, strong data protection measures, and energy efficiency features.

The Sylhet Data Centre stands as a key milestone in strengthening Bangladesh’s telecom backbone, supporting both the government’s digital vision and the growing demands of a data-driven economy.
