ZTE has announced the completion of the first phase of a major network modernisation project for telecoms provider Mobiuz in Karakalpakstan and the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan. The upgrades included the replacement of radio relay systems and base stations, alongside the deployment of more than 1,200 new base stations across both regions.
According to independent tests by the Republican Center for Telecommunication Networks Control of Uzbekistan, the improvements are already visible: internet speeds have risen by 20% in Karakalpakstan and 33% in Khorezm, while data traffic has increased by 36% and 34% respectively.
“Our advanced equipment and expertise have enabled a future-proof network infrastructure that will serve the people of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm for years to come,” said Wang Guangdong, CEO of ZTE Uzbekistan.
Mobiuz CEO Sobir Aripov stressed the project’s wider impact, noting that the enhanced network is helping children access education, enabling doctors to use modern digital tools, and giving entrepreneurs access to new markets. “The outstanding results in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm confirm we are on the right path,” he said.
ZTE and Mobiuz confirmed that the partnership will continue with additional phases aimed at further boosting connectivity and digital services, though details of the next stages have yet to be disclosed.
