SHARJAH — The UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has unveiled Tahweel, the country’s first fully integrated national digital marketplace for recyclable materials. The launch took place at BEEAH’s headquarters during the fourth meeting of the UAE Council for Environmental and Municipal Work.
Developed in partnership with BEEAH Group, Tahweel is part of the government’s 2024–2025 initiatives to strengthen the circular economy, reduce landfill reliance, and promote sustainable growth under the “We the UAE 2031” vision.
Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, said Tahweel reflects the leadership’s vision of turning environmental challenges into economic opportunities, transforming waste management into an engine for innovation and value creation.
Powered by re.life’s digital platform, Tahweel enables businesses with trade licences to directly buy and sell recyclables — including metals, plastics, paper, wood, e-waste, glass, and rubber — through features like timed auctions, partial auctions, and instant trades. The system eliminates intermediaries, ensuring fair pricing, transparency, and efficiency.
Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO of BEEAH, called the launch a “significant leap toward a circular economy”, noting that re.life has already achieved rapid growth locally and abroad. MOCCAE also stressed that Tahweel supports the government’s Zero Bureaucracy initiative, simplifying transactions and fostering competitiveness in the UAE’s business environment.
The ministry and BEEAH plan to work with local waste authorities to encourage adoption through awareness campaigns and training, aiming to position Tahweel as a cornerstone of the UAE’s sustainable development agenda.
