Egypt’s Health Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, held talks with representatives of China’s Ningbo Clinical Pathology Diagnostic Center on potential collaboration in digital diagnostics and artificial intelligence (AI). The discussions took place on the sidelines of the Huawei Connect 2025 conference in Shanghai from September 18 to 20.
Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the talks centered on launching specialized online training programs for pathology technicians and specialists. These programs will focus on digital pathology, advanced diagnostic techniques, and AI applications aligned with international standards to strengthen professional expertise.
The parties also considered frameworks for medical team exchanges, developing quality management systems, and joint research in oncology, molecular and genetic studies, and AI-driven integrated diagnostics. Plans were also reviewed for a digital consultation platform to support remote case discussions.
Minister Abdel Ghaffar toured the Ningbo center to observe its operations firsthand and invited its representatives to Egypt to participate in a pilot project introducing digital pathology services in select hospitals. This initiative builds on earlier collaborations with Egypt’s central laboratories and specialized medical institutions.
