Kuwait Streamlines Social Security Registration for Non-Employed Wives and Daughters

Kuwait’s Social Security Department has announced new electronic registration procedures for non-employed wives and daughters of insured individuals, effective October 8–18, 2025. The move is part of a broader digital transformation under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and citizen accessibility.

The updated process specifically covers non-employed wives, including second wives, and dependent daughters. Eligible beneficiaries will be able to register online during the 10-day window, eliminating the need for in-person visits. Support will be available through the call center (19911) and digital platforms, with the department emphasizing that the system is “electronically easy and simple.” Registration will remain free of charge.

Applicants are required to submit essential documents such as the national ID, family book, technical card, and medical card. Once approved, beneficiaries receive a yellow card confirming their eligibility. Authorities have stressed the importance of accuracy: beneficiaries must update their information within three months to avoid interruptions in benefits, with legal penalties for providing false or misleading data.

The reforms are designed to safeguard fairness and data integrity, requiring beneficiaries to report changes in family structure, income, employment, or health status. Updates can be made online or via call center.

Beyond financial support, the Social Security Department is also expanding services to promote self-reliance, including vocational rehabilitation plans, job search assistance, and continuous follow-up. These measures align with Kuwait’s Vision 2030 goals of digital innovation, social empowerment, and reducing long-term welfare dependency.

Officials say the initiative represents a step toward a more inclusive and resilient social safety net—one that ensures vulnerable groups can access support with ease, while also fostering greater independence and participation in the national economy.
