Dubai — Huawei, in partnership with the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE), has launched the 10th edition of the Huawei Middle East & Central Asia ICT Competition at GITEX Global 2025, reaffirming its commitment to developing one million digital talents over the next decade.
The regional competition — now one of the largest ICT talent development platforms in the Middle East and Central Asia — aims to enhance students’ technical knowledge, practical skills, and innovation capabilities in advanced and emerging technologies. The initiative builds on Huawei’s broader talent ecosystem, which has already trained more than 500,000 ICT professionals globally.
Since its inception, the Huawei ICT Competition has reached 19 countries, 800 universities, and 140,000 students, with the most recent 2024–2025 edition hosted in Saudi Arabia. The 10th edition introduces two core categories:
- A Practice Competition, strengthening participants’ expertise across Network, Computing, and Cloud tracks.
- An Innovation Competition, encouraging creative AI applications that address real-world challenges.
Top performers in national and regional rounds will compete in the Global Final in China, with winners receiving Huawei MateBooks, MatePads, and smartwatches, as well as Honorary Certificates jointly issued by Huawei and UNESCO IITE. Exceptional participants will also gain access to Huawei’s Eagle Talent Program, which offers internships and priority employment opportunities.
Ekaterina Pushkareva, Programme Specialist at UNESCO IITE, praised the initiative: “The Huawei ICT Competition embodies our shared values of inclusivity, innovation, and education. It helps bridge the digital divide and equips young people with the skills and confidence to contribute meaningfully to their economies.”
Cong Liang, Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, Huawei Middle East & Central Asia, highlighted the company’s long-term vision: “Over the past decade, this competition has become a catalyst for digital transformation. Our commitment to training one million ICT talents reflects Huawei’s dedication to empowering the next generation of digital leaders.”
Through partnerships with UNESCO, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and its ICT Academy network—which spans 3,000 universities across 110 countries—Huawei continues to expand access to digital education and foster a global ecosystem of skilled ICT professionals driving sustainable innovation.
