Sri Lanka Showcases ICT and AI Innovation at GITEX GLOBAL 2025

Dubai — October 22, 2025:
Sri Lanka made a strong impression at GITEX GLOBAL 2025 and GITEX Expand North Star, held from October 13–17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Harbour, demonstrating the country’s growing strength in ICT, software development, artificial intelligence (AI), and fintech.

The participation was jointly organized by the Consulate General of Sri Lanka to Dubai and Northern Emirates and the Export Development Board (EDB). The Sri Lankan delegation featured women-led technology companies including Remedy Consultants Ltd., Paymedia Ltd., InTalent Ltd., Emojot Ltd., Prologics IT Solutions Ltd., and Sanmark Solutions Ltd., underscoring the nation’s focus on diversity and innovation in the digital economy.

Now in its 45th edition, GITEX GLOBAL is one of the world’s most influential technology events, attracting global leaders in AI, cybersecurity, sustainable tech, and digital innovation. The Sri Lankan delegation participated in B2B meetings, investor sessions, networking receptions, and workshops, connecting with tech giants and startups to explore opportunities for foreign direct investment (FDI), outsourcing, and technology transfer.

Special meetings were also held with Dubai Silicon Oasis, SheTrade MENA Hub, and Falak Tayyeb Platinum Government Services, focusing on building partnerships in digital trade and innovation collaboration.

A networking reception was hosted by Consul General Alexi Gunasekare on October 15 at the Consulate premises, bringing together IT professionals, investors, and GITEX delegates to celebrate Sri Lanka’s growing global presence in technology. The event was attended by Sri Lankan Ambassador to the UAE Prof. Arusha Cooray, who emphasized that Sri Lanka’s participation reflected its commitment to digital transformation and sustainable innovation.

“Sri Lanka’s ICT sector is one of the fastest-growing export industries, powered by a highly skilled workforce and a strong focus on sustainability, quality, and impact,” Prof. Cooray noted.

Head of Chancery Subhashini Silva highlighted the sector’s economic impact, noting Sri Lanka’s goal to achieve $3.7 billion in ICT exports by 2027, supported by continued collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Sri Lankan IT Professionals Association (SLIPTA) UAE Chapter President Thishan Gunasekara reaffirmed the community’s support for advancing Sri Lanka’s digital economy and strengthening global partnerships.
