Tunisia has officially unveiled the dates for the Global Game Jam 2026, set to take place from January 26 to February 1, 2026, marking another major milestone for Africa’s growing gaming industry. The event will unite developers, designers, and artists for a 48-hour marathon of creativity and collaboration, where teams will conceptualize and develop video games based on a common theme.
Organizers described the upcoming edition as “the ultimate gathering for video game enthusiasts of all ages.” Tunisia’s participation continues to position the country as a regional leader in digital creativity and innovation, while also highlighting Africa’s rising role in the global gaming landscape.
Venues for the 2026 edition are expected to include some of Tunisia’s premier innovation hubs, such as Elgazala Technopark in Ariana, Elaco Coworking Space in Soliman, and Zarzis Smart Center—all of which have hosted previous events. Final locations will be confirmed closer to the event date.
Registration will open in two phases:
- November 3, 2025: Venue registration for “Jam Sites.”
- December 1, 2025: Participant registration for individual developers, known as “Jammers,” via the official Global Game Jam website.
The Global Game Jam—the world’s largest collaborative game development initiative—has attracted more than 474,000 participants from 132 countries, producing over 101,000 games as of 2025. In Tunisia, the event is co-organized by Makers Factory, S2T Ghazala Technopark, and Tunisie Telecom, reflecting the nation’s commitment to nurturing digital innovation and creative industries.
The 2026 edition aims to spotlight Africa’s gaming talent, foster international collaboration, and further strengthen the continent’s influence within the global interactive entertainment ecosystem.
