Manama, Bahrain – Batelco by Beyon has become the first telecommunications provider in Bahrain to integrate the national eKey 2.0 system directly into its mobile app, enabling customers to subscribe to new mobile lines through a faster, more secure, and fully digital process.
With this new feature, customers no longer need to scan ID cards for verification. Instead, they can confirm their identity instantly and securely using biometric authentication via eKey 2.0. This integration reinforces Batelco’s leadership in digital innovation and supports Bahrain’s broader eGovernment and digital transformation agenda.
Aseel Mattar, General Manager Consumer at Batelco, stated:
“At Batelco, we continuously strive to enhance our customers’ digital experience by introducing advanced solutions that make every interaction easier and more secure. The integration of the national eKey 2.0 within the Batelco App transforms the process of subscribing to a new mobile line, combining both security and convenience while supporting Bahrain’s national digital agenda.”
The eKey 2.0 system—part of Bahrain’s national digital identity framework—simplifies and accelerates access to public and private services by providing a unified, secure, and frictionless authentication layer. Its deployment across government and commercial platforms aims to enhance compliance, reduce identity fraud, and deliver greater user trust in digital transactions.
This initiative reflects Batelco’s continued investment in enhancing customer experience, advancing Bahrain’s digital infrastructure, and contributing to the Kingdom’s goal of creating a secure and inclusive digital economy.
