Algeria and Huawei Discuss Boosting Technology Deployment and Building a Digital Ecosystem

Algeria’s Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, met in Algiers with Shen Li, President of Huawei Northern Africa (covering North, West, and Central Africa), to explore ways to accelerate the deployment of advanced technologies and strengthen Algeria’s digital ecosystem.

According to the Ministry’s statement, the meeting was also attended by senior officials from the telecommunications sector and affiliated institutions. Discussions centered on Algeria’s ambition to develop an integrated digital environment through strategic partnerships with leading global technology companies.

Both parties emphasized the importance of technology transfer, local capacity building, and national expertise development to position Algeria as a producer of technology rather than merely a consumer. The government’s existing investment incentives and digital transformation initiatives were highlighted as key enablers of this goal.

The dialogue reflects Algeria’s ongoing efforts to modernize its ICT sector, attract international partners, and align its digital infrastructure with global innovation standards — marking another step in its broader strategy for sustainable, tech-driven economic growth.
