Ncell Expands 4G Coverage with 20 New Towers in Just 10 Days

Kathmandu — Nepal’s leading private telecom operator Ncell has fast-tracked its 4G rollout, activating 20 new cell towers across the country in just 10 days, further strengthening its mission to deliver seamless digital connectivity nationwide. The expansion covers key areas across Madhesh, Bagmati, and Koshi Provinces, with the facilitation and support of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA).

According to Ncell, the NTA’s timely approval for equipment procurement and site operations played a crucial role in enabling this record-speed deployment. The company emphasized that the new sites will enhance network access, 4G speed, and call quality, particularly in semi-urban and rural regions where connectivity has been limited.

The newly activated towers include:

  • Madhesh Province (13 sites): Parwanipur, Pokharia, Pakahamainpur, Birgunj, Balan Bihul, Janakpur, Kataiya, Kamala, Bideha, Kaudena, Motipur, Yamunamai, and Madhav Narayan.
  • Koshi Province (6 sites): Inaruwa, Barju, Harinagar, Gadhi, Babiyabirta, and Majhare.
  • Bagmati Province (1 site): Hetauda.

Upanga Dutta, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Ncell, highlighted the company’s continued investment in network expansion:

“We are expanding and enhancing our 4G network in line with our commitment to strengthen digital connectivity across Nepal. Bringing 20 towers live in under 10 days is a reflection of our dedication to providing reliable broadband and quality voice services nationwide.”

Dutta added that Ncell plans to activate 10 additional towers in the coming days and install over 170 new base stations across all provinces within the next two months. These expansions will boost network capacity, coverage, and Quality of Service (QoS) for millions of subscribers.

Since launching 4G in 2017, Ncell has extended coverage to all 77 districts, reaching 95% of Nepal’s population. With more than 11.6 million 4G users, the company continues to be a key driver of the country’s digital transformation through initiatives like VoLTE services, carrier aggregation, and Sadhain ON data packs for affordable mobile broadband.
