Oman’s Ministry of Labour has significantly improved the hiring ecosystem through its unified digital platform, the ‘Maak’ application, which streamlines employment-related procedures for both individuals and employers. Designed to connect talent with opportunity, the app enhances access to job listings, services, and information exchange while supporting a broad segment of job-seekers across the country.
By 2024, the ministry had digitised 76% of its services, making them accessible via its website and the Maak mobile app. These services cater to all groups, including residents, employers, job-seekers, the national workforce, and government entities. The adoption of Maak reflects the ministry’s focus on modernising the labour system, supported by updated legislation, specialised tools, and investments in human and financial resources.
Maak offers tailored services for individuals and employers, covering job-seeker assistance, national workforce support, employer services, and channels for complaints and reports. The platform has recorded strong usage, including 452,627 applications for government jobs, 1,670,383 applications for private sector roles, 380,983 activated user profiles, 8,568 accepted employment contracts, and 10,190 registered labour complaints.
This digital transformation marks a major shift in Oman’s employment sector by improving transparency, accessibility, and service quality. Mobile recruitment applications like Maak are becoming essential tools—expanding candidate reach, enabling direct communication, reducing hiring costs, and accelerating recruitment processes for all stakeholders.
