Jordan’s Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Smeirat, met in Damascus with Syria’s Minister of Communications and Technology, Abdul-Salam Haykal, to explore deeper cooperation in digital transformation, infrastructure development, and cybersecurity—key pillars for advancing both nations’ technology ecosystems.
According to the ministry’s statement, the talks focused on aligning digital priorities and identifying areas where joint projects could accelerate regional connectivity and tech sector growth.
The Jordanian delegation also visited Damascus University, where they reviewed the institution’s digital learning systems and discussed opportunities for academic collaboration. Both sides expressed interest in exchanging expertise in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies to strengthen youth digital skills and expand talent development initiatives.
The visit underscores growing momentum for Jordan–Syria cooperation in technology, innovation, and digital capacity building.
