ABB has inaugurated a US$2 million AI and digital solutions training and customer experience center in Dubai, designed to upskill 2,000 engineers and technicians annually across the Middle East. The facility aims to strengthen industrial and energy-sector capabilities in digital asset management, predictive maintenance, and next-generation electrification technologies.
Located in Dubai’s Al Quoz Industrial Area, the 2,500-square-meter center features a high-tech workshop, lecture theater and collaborative training zones. It will support industries—including utilities, data centers, and smart residential and commercial developments—as they modernize infrastructure to meet rising regional electricity demand, which is expected to grow up to 4% annually through 2035 (IEA).
Marco Tellarini, Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East & Africa at ABB Electrification Service, emphasized the urgent need to bridge the digital skills gap as the electrification sector faces an aging workforce. The new center will train professionals in data-driven operations, remote monitoring, AI-powered predictive maintenance, and medium- and low-voltage technologies.
The facility will also help companies retrofit older infrastructure with modern digital solutions, improving efficiency, resilience and sustainability. ABB says these capabilities are essential for achieving net-zero goals while ensuring cost-effective, reliable energy systems.
With a long-standing UAE presence since 1976, ABB employs over 600 staff in the country and more than 1,200 across the GCC region, reinforcing its position as a key technology partner in the Middle East’s energy transition.
