Taager Enters Morocco as Egyptian Social Commerce Startup Accelerates North Africa Expansion

Egyptian social commerce startup Taager has expanded into Morocco, opening a new office in Casablanca as part of its broader regional growth strategy. The company has appointed Salma Ammor to lead its Moroccan operations. This marks Taager’s first expansion into North Africa outside its home market of Egypt, adding to its existing presence in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The move follows Taager’s $6.75 million funding round raised in February 2025, which was specifically aimed at accelerating its expansion across the MENA region. Founded in 2019, Taager operates a dropshipping model that allows individuals to sell products online without holding inventory or paying upfront costs.

Taager currently supports a network of more than 65,000 independent sellers and offers a catalogue of over 5,000 products spanning electronics, fashion, and home appliances. Sellers promote these products on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram at their own markup, while Taager manages the full operational workflow including order fulfillment and delivery.

Morocco was selected as a key growth market due to its strong digital fundamentals. The country is Africa’s fifth-largest e-commerce market, with 92 percent internet penetration. Social commerce is being driven by a young, digital-native population actively using platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. Facebook remains the largest platform with 22.8 million users, while TikTok saw 19 percent growth in 2025 to reach 16.7 million users, and Instagram grew 20 percent to 15.1 million users.
