Umniah by Beyon has signed a five-year strategic partnership agreement with Ericsson to modernise and expand its Radio Access Network across 3G, 4G, and 5G in Jordan. Under the agreement, Ericsson will act as the exclusive technology provider for Umniah’s network upgrades, supporting national digital transformation goals and preparing Jordan’s connectivity infrastructure for long-term growth.
As part of the collaboration, Ericsson will deploy advanced Radio System technologies, including Massive MIMO antennas and high-performance baseband units, to enhance network capacity, reliability, and efficiency. The upgrades are designed to meet rising data demand while reducing energy consumption and lowering carbon emissions through lighter, more sustainable radio solutions.
The agreement also includes the deployment of Ericsson Spectrum Sharing, allowing 5G services to run on existing 4G frequencies. This capability will help extend high-speed connectivity to rural and underserved areas, promoting digital inclusion across the Kingdom. Customers are expected to benefit from improved speeds, lower latency, and more consistent coverage, supporting services such as e-government, digital education, entertainment, and mobile financial platforms.
For businesses, the modernised network will enable greater adoption of cloud services, automation, and Industry applications, strengthening Jordan’s competitiveness and supporting innovation and job creation. The partnership aligns with Umniah’s digital-first strategy and sustainability goals, while preparing the network for future technologies including artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and advanced automation.
