Digicel Samoa expands 5G coverage in Apia to 25 sites

Digicel Samoa said on Tuesday that it has expanded its 5G coverage in Apia with five new sites, bringing the total number of 5G locations in the city and surrounding suburbs to 25.

The new deployments form part of Digicel Samoa’s WST23 million (US$8.3 million) investment in network upgrades across Upolu and Savaii. The programme includes 19 5G and 13 LTE base stations rolled out over the past year.

According to the operator, the latest sites have been strategically placed across key urban, residential, and industrial areas, enabling customers to benefit from faster internet speeds, improved streaming, enhanced gaming experiences, and broader access to digital services.

“With more 5G sites, we’re helping to provide Samoans with access to a faster, more reliable network they can use for work, play, and everything in between,” said Digicel Samoa CEO Karl Vizvary in a statement.

Digicel Samoa commercially launched the country’s first 5G service in July 2024, beginning with five 5G sites in Apia’s central business district.
