MUSCAT — Omantel has launched Otech, a new future-technology platform designed to accelerate Oman’s digital transformation and strengthen the country’s position as a regional technology and digital economy hub. The launch marks a strategic shift for Omantel as it continues its transition from a traditional telecom operator into an integrated digital technology company.
Positioned as a key enabler of Oman’s digital economy, Otech consolidates Omantel’s technology assets, including Oman Data Park and Tedom, under a unified operating model. The platform will deliver advanced services spanning data centres, sovereign and hyperscale cloud, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and systems integration, aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and the country’s economic diversification goals.
The initiative is supported by a series of strategic partnerships with global technology providers, including Oracle for hyperscale cloud platforms, PwC for cybersecurity and capability development, Nagarro for systems integration, Palo Alto Networks for threat intelligence and incident response, and Fortinet for cloud-enabled cybersecurity solutions. Additional collaboration includes partnerships with Nama Shared Services and local startups to strengthen national technology capabilities and innovation ecosystems.
As part of the launch, Omantel inaugurated the Firq Data Centre, positioned as a core infrastructure component supporting secure, scalable, and mission-critical digital operations. The company noted that Otech enables enterprises and government entities to run workloads across public, hybrid, and sovereign cloud environments while maintaining compliance with local regulatory and data localisation requirements.
Omantel stated that Otech reflects growing demand for ICT and digital services driven by government-led digital transformation initiatives, with a strong focus on talent development through training and upskilling in cloud, cybersecurity, and AI technologies. The platform is expected to play a central role in building national digital capabilities and supporting Oman’s ambition to become a regional technology and innovation hub.
