Mashreq launches Digital Cross-BBorder Accounts for Pakistanis in UAE

KARACHI: Mashreq has introduced a new digital cross-border banking service enabling UAE-based Pakistani customers to open and manage Mashreq Pakistan accounts remotely through the Mashreq UAE mobile app, marking a significant step in simplifying cross-border financial access for expatriates.

The service allows Pakistani nationals holding Mashreq UAE accounts to open bank accounts in Pakistan without the need for physical documentation or branch visits. Customers can view and manage both UAE and Pakistan accounts through a unified digital dashboard, providing a consolidated view of their cross-border finances.

Once the Pakistan account is activated, customers can transfer funds instantly and free of charge using Quick Remit, Mashreq’s remittance feature available exclusively to its account holders. The offering also includes a current account with zero minimum balance requirements and a complimentary domestic PayPak debit card.

Muhammad Hamayun Sajjad, CEO of Mashreq Pakistan, said the initiative reflects the bank’s focus on building a technology-driven financial ecosystem that removes traditional banking barriers. He noted that the service is designed to help overseas Pakistanis remain financially connected to home while managing their banking needs more efficiently across borders.

The launch highlights Mashreq’s ongoing investment in digital innovation aimed at improving customer experience, enhancing financial accessibility and delivering greater flexibility for expatriate communities managing finances across multiple markets.
