Zong (CMPak), a subsidiary of China Mobile, has officially secured its 5G spectrum following the landmark auction concluded by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). This move cements Zong’s position as a “Technology Service Enterprise,” transitioning from a traditional mobile operator to a provider of smart, AI-integrated digital ecosystems.
While the auction marks the arrival of 5G, Zong has emphasized that the newly acquired spectrum will immediately boost its existing 4G infrastructure. With over 17,000 cell sites and a 26,000-kilometer fiber-optic network, the company plans a phased 5G rollout that prioritizes not just speed, but low-latency applications for industrial modernization.
