inDrive Expands Into Pakistan’s Quick-Commerce with KraveMart Acquisition

In a strategic pivot from its core ride-hailing business, inDrive has officially acquired the Pakistan-based grocery startup KraveMart. This move signals the Mountain View-based company’s intention to transform into a “super app” within emerging markets, mirroring the successful models of Southeast Asia’s Grab or Gojek. By integrating hyperlocal grocery delivery, inDrive is leveraging its existing massive user base—currently over 200 million globally—to capture a larger share of Pakistan’s digital services market.

The acquisition is a direct challenge to Foodpanda, which currently maintains a dominant 65% market share in Pakistan’s $500M+ quick-commerce sector. While Foodpanda has enjoyed a near-monopoly since the exit of players like Airlift, inDrive’s entry introduces a well-funded competitor (valued at $2.3 billion) with a proven track record of capital efficiency in high-density, low-labor-cost environments like Karachi and Lahore.

For KraveMart, which launched in 2023 focusing on 15-minute deliveries, the deal provides a vital lifeline and the infrastructure needed to scale. Industry analysts suggest that inDrive plans to fully integrate KraveMart’s dark store network into its main application within the next six months, offering a bundled service of rides, couriers, and groceries to drive cross-platform adoption.
