Bahrain: Northstar Telecom standardises broadband infrastructure with HFCL’s IO

Northstar Telecom has announced the standardisation of its Wi-Fi access point and switching infrastructure across business and residential broadband services in Bahrain using the IO by HFCL portfolio. All new broadband connections will now be supported by IO by HFCL access points, with switching infrastructure aligned to the same unified platform.

The initiative will also extend to enterprise deployments, ensuring consistent network architecture across SMEs and large corporate environments. By consolidating access and switching layers under a carrier-grade unified architecture, Northstar aims to improve performance, reliability, and scalability while simplifying deployment and lifecycle management.

For network operations, the company will deploy IO Canvas, HFCL’s AI-powered unified network management platform. The system enables centralized configuration, monitoring, and management of Wi-Fi access and switching infrastructure across broadband deployments. IO Canvas can operate across public cloud, private cloud, or on-premises environments, allowing the operator to meet regulatory and operational requirements.

According to Northstar Telecom’s operations head Tony Chacko, the move supports the operator’s need to meet strict performance and service standards while ensuring a scalable network architecture capable of supporting growing demand.

HFCL said the deployment represents a live operational validation of its IO infrastructure platform in a regulated ISP and enterprise environment, demonstrating the technology’s readiness for telecom operators and enterprise networks across the region.
