Govt to focus on ICT as foundation for future growth

Bangladesh’s government is positioning telecom and ICT as the backbone of long-term economic growth, with plans to strengthen connectivity, attract investment, and accelerate digital transformation. Adviser Rehan Asad emphasized that robust, high-speed networks are essential for GDP growth and future readiness, including AI adoption.

Key priorities include expanding fibre infrastructure, improving nationwide connectivity, and launching free high-capacity Wi-Fi at major transport hubs. The government also plans to review telecom policies, curb illegal devices, and boost foreign investment in the sector.

With a strong focus on execution, the strategy aims to build a resilient digital foundation to support Bangladesh’s development over the next three decades.
