The Head of Iraq’s Communication and Media Commission (CMC), Ali Al-Moayad, announced a new training initiative developed in partnership with Apple to provide job opportunities for the youth, as reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA). This program is part of a broader strategy to forge a long-term strategic partnership with the American tech giant.
During discussions with an Apple delegation on Monday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani highlighted Iraq’s evolution into a vibrant investment climate that supports the operations of several large corporations. This environment has spurred the need for rapid digital transformation.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani outlined the government’s digitalization strategies, which include advancements in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and electronic payments, overseen by the Supreme Committee for Digital Transformation. He stressed the importance of enhancing the digital and technological skills of Iraqi youth to support the government’s ambition to develop a fully integrated digital infrastructure for public services and to widen employment opportunities.
The visiting Apple team suggested several initiatives to aid Iraq’s tech advancement, including academic partnerships and developer training programs. They also proposed a new system for registering cell phones to ensure fair pricing for devices entering the Iraqi market.
