Dubai, UAE – At the upcoming Intersec 2025 Security Leaders’ Summit, taking place from January 14-16 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the focus will be on the increasingly critical role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in cybersecurity. The summit will gather global experts to discuss the dual impact of AI on enhancing and challenging digital security, particularly how it is reshaping strategies across the Middle East.
The event, marking its 26th edition, will address the evolving landscape of cyber threats intensified by AI technologies. According to the Cisco 2024 Cybersecurity Readiness Index, AI has emerged as a pivotal element in the cybersecurity frameworks of countries like Bahrain and the UAE, significantly influencing how organizations defend against and manage cyber risks. The report highlights that an overwhelming majority of UAE companies now incorporate AI solutions into their cybersecurity protocols.
Fawaz Alsumaim, Head of the Anti-Internet and Information Systems Crime Division at the Ministry of Interior Bahrain, emphasized the transformative impact of AI in cyber warfare: “AI is redefining the dynamics of cyber conflicts, minimizing the need for human intervention in cyber defenses and attacks. This shift could escalate the speed and complexity of cyber engagements, making them more dynamic and potentially more destructive.”
Alsumaim also noted that AI-driven cybersecurity measures are crucial for protecting vital national infrastructure and supporting broader security goals, including economic resilience and civilian protection. He highlighted the importance of international cooperation in combating these sophisticated threats, with Bahrain and the UAE playing significant roles due to their advanced digital infrastructures and strategic initiatives.
The summit will not only cover the defensive aspects of cybersecurity but also delve into how AI is being exploited by hackers to create more sophisticated and large-scale cyberattacks. Discussions will explore strategies for Middle Eastern organizations to fortify themselves against such threats.
Grant Tuchten, Portfolio Director at Messe Frankfurt Middle East, stated: “Intersec 2025 will provide invaluable insights into the integration of AI in cybersecurity, offering practical steps for organizations to enhance their defenses and stay ahead in a rapidly evolving threat landscape.”
Intersec 2025 is supported by the UAE Cyber Security Council and will feature a special in{cyber} section, focusing on cybersecurity. The event will also include a startup zone and an Innovation Stage, showcasing the latest advancements in safety, security, and fire protection.
