Africa’s gaming industry is set to reach $1 billion in revenue in 2024, with mobile gaming driving nearly 90% of the market. South Africa leads, while Nigeria shows the most growth. The region also sees a rise in game studios, particularly in West, Southern, and East Africa.
The Moroccan government plans to invest 360 million dirhams (about $36 million) to establish a specialized gaming zone in Rabat. This initiative aims to foster game development, coding, and professional training, ultimately generating jobs and attracting international talent, reinforcing Morocco’s position as a gaming hub in Africa and the Middle East.
Morocco has partnered with Huawei to enhance its gaming industry and promote digital transformation. This collaboration includes providing essential technologies like 5G and cloud support, positioning Morocco as a competitive hub for gaming in North Africa while empowering local developers and fostering innovation in the digital entertainment sector.
The initiative supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by enhancing the local gaming sector.
