Airtel Kenya is embarking on a significant expansion of its 5G network infrastructure, aiming to enhance the country’s connectivity landscape by adding 100 new 5G sites by the year’s end. This strategic move will extend Airtel’s 5G coverage from the current 180 wards across 15 counties to an impressive 221 wards in 32 counties, marking a notable increase in its digital footprint.

The telecom giant’s expansion will usher in the benefits of high-speed 5G internet to several new areas, including Nairobi, Kiambu, Mombasa, and Nakuru, along with many other counties such as Kakamega, Bomet, and Kisii. Airtel Kenya’s Managing Director, Ashish Malhotra, highlighted the transformative potential of 5G technology, emphasizing that it’s not just about speed but about connecting people, businesses, and communities in ways that were previously inconceivable.

In a commitment to bring more Kenyans into the fold of advanced connectivity, Airtel Kenya had previously initiated its 5G journey on July 6, 2023, with the launch of 372 sites. The upcoming additional sites signify Airtel’s dedication to propelling Kenya towards a connected future, enabling a larger customer base to experience the power of 5G technology.

Understanding the increasing prevalence of 5G-capable devices, Airtel Kenya is facilitating access to its 5G services through the provision of 5G Home Broadband routers. These routers are aimed at catering to the needs of businesses and homes, ensuring that enterprises, SMEs, and individual customers can enjoy the high-speed network. The routers come with an attractive package starting at just Ksh 3,500 per month for unlimited usage.

The company has introduced a tiered pricing strategy for its 5G offerings, with unlimited plans ranging from 10Mbps to 50Mbps, tailored to meet the diverse needs of its customers. For individual home users, there are also volume-based data plans beginning from Ksh 2,999, making the transition to 5G both affordable and seamless.

Airtel’s network enhancement is a testament to its commitment to drive digital transformation and provide cutting-edge services that will contribute to the socio-economic growth of Kenya by connecting more people to the digital world.
