Google for Startups has unveiled its new ‘AI Academy’ in Pakistan, a pioneering initiative aimed at advancing Artificial Intelligence across Pakistan and the broader Asia-Pacific region. This move marks the initial success of the Google Chromebook initiative, setting the stage for further innovative projects.
The AI Academy aims to foster new cross-border partnerships under the Special Investment Facilitation Council, promoting a vibrant exchange of ideas and resources to position Pakistan as a global hub for AI development within Asia-Pacific.
Adding to this technological momentum, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah recently announced 1,000 Google scholarships for students at 10 public universities. During a meeting at CM House, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with Tech Valley and the universities, CM Shah highlighted the critical role of IT skills in securing employment in today’s digital economy.
He emphasized the importance of equipping youth with diverse IT skills such as e-marketing, AI, animation, and web design, to ensure their competitiveness in the global marketplace. These efforts are complemented by the deployment of Google Chromebooks across Sindh’s educational institutions, facilitated by the Education Department and Tech Valley. These devices are celebrated for their lightweight design, long battery life, and ease of use, expected to significantly enhance the educational experience.
Through initiatives like the AI Academy and strategic educational investments, Google for Startups is playing a crucial role in shaping a future where Pakistan’s youth can thrive in the global digital landscape.
