Iraq-based quick commerce startup Padash has raised $125,000 in pre-seed funding from an undisclosed angel investor. Founded in 2023 in Erbil, Kurdistan, by entrepreneurs Ahmed Jamal, Omer Sabah, Muhammed Yassein, and Ahmed Bayiz, Padash aims to transform the local delivery market with its instant food and grocery delivery service.
The investment will be channeled into expanding Padash’s operations within Erbil, enhancing its mobile app to cover the majority of the city, and preparing for a future launch in Baghdad. Padash enables consumers to receive orders from local stores in under 20 minutes, dramatically simplifying how residents access daily necessities.
“This funding is a significant milestone for Padash as we aim to revolutionize how people in Iraq access food and groceries quickly and affordably,” said Ahmed Jamal, CEO of Padash. The startup plans to make its delivery services 50% more affordable, expanding access to more residents.
Currently operational in four blocks of Erbil, Padash is poised for extensive growth, aiming to serve broader areas and improve its app’s user experience. This funding marks the seventh investment in Iraqi startups this year, indicating a growing interest in the region’s tech potential.
The founders, who previously launched the successful gaming app Kurdivia, bring valuable experience and insights into the Iraqi market, setting the stage for Padash to significantly impact Erbil’s urban life and beyond.
