Nokia has announced a strategic partnership with Ooredoo Oman to deploy a state-of-the-art Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) wholesale network. This collaboration will meet the increasing demands of hyperscalers’ data centers, AI-driven applications, and cloud platforms, while positioning Oman as a key connectivity hub linking the Indian Ocean, the Gulf, and Europe.
The new nationwide network, powered by Nokia’s flagship 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS), will provide trusted performance using WDM transmission across C + L bands. Additionally, it will simplify network operations and accelerate service delivery through the WaveSuite optical automation software.
Low-Latency Connectivity for Global Reach
The deployment of this high-capacity network will ensure low-latency connectivity for hyperscalers and wholesale customers, enabling seamless traffic flow to global destinations. The network services are set to be commercially launched in March 2025.
This project aligns with Oman Vision 2040, which aims to enhance global competitiveness and strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure. Through this collaboration, Ooredoo Oman is poised to become a critical player in the global data traffic ecosystem, providing world-class connectivity that supports businesses and communities throughout the region.
