Qatar’s MCIT Launches Technology Radar Initiative to Drive Emerging Tech Adoption in Healthcare

Doha – The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), through its TASMU Innovation Lab, has launched the Technology Radar Initiative, a strategic program designed to identify, assess, and prioritize emerging technologies across key sectors in alignment with the Digital Agenda 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030.

The initiative was inaugurated with a workshop focused on the healthcare sector, bringing together leaders and experts from institutions such as Hamad Medical Corporation, Sidra Medicine, and Weill Cornell Medicine. The session explored how digital innovations can improve service quality, enhance healthcare delivery, and guide technology adoption based on community needs.

The Technology Radar serves as a decision-making tool for government agencies, classifying emerging technologies for adoption, testing, or monitoring. This approach enables policymakers and healthcare providers to align investments with national priorities, strengthen digital trust, and build more resilient systems.

The inaugural workshop, themed “Technology Radar: Emerging Trends in Healthcare”, featured interactive sessions on new use cases, challenges, and opportunities in digital transformation. It also focused on themes such as patient-centered healthcare, operational agility, and digital trust.

Eman Al Kuwari, Director of the Digital Innovation Department at MCIT, described the launch as a milestone for translating global technology trends into actionable strategies for Qatar. “We begin with the healthcare sector as a starting point, given its essential role in society and its strong alignment with the Digital Agenda 2030,” she said. She emphasized that the initiative will foster collaboration, equipping healthcare providers with tools to deliver world-class care underpinned by innovation and digital excellence.

The next phase will involve a rigorous validation process with expert committees to ensure alignment of identified technologies with national healthcare needs. The outcomes will be consolidated into clear themes and priorities, offering decision-makers practical insights to guide investment and policy.

By building a platform for collaboration among healthcare providers, regulators, and innovators, the Technology Radar Initiative reflects MCIT’s commitment to leveraging emerging digital solutions to accelerate transformation, strengthen system efficiency, and improve long-term healthcare outcomes.
