du Partners with Huawei to Launch UAE’s First Multi-Band Indoor 5G Solution

du has announced a strategic partnership with Huawei to deploy the UAE’s first customized multi-band Indoor Base Station (IBS) solution, marking a major milestone in the evolution of its 5G-Advanced network. The initiative is designed to address one of the most persistent challenges in mobile connectivity: delivering strong, reliable 5G performance in indoor environments.

The new solution integrates 3G, 4G, and 5G capabilities into a single radio unit, enabling enhanced indoor coverage across high-traffic locations such as VIP venues, shopping malls, and tier-1 tourist destinations. The customized pico Remote Radio Unit (pRRU) has been specifically designed to meet du’s network requirements, making this deployment the first of its kind in the UAE.

Saleem AlBlooshi, Chief Technology Officer at du, said the collaboration represents a pivotal step in the company’s 5G+ network journey. He noted that the multi-band indoor solution reflects du’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and improving customer experience by delivering high-performance connectivity in indoor spaces where users live, work, and shop.

By consolidating multiple frequency bands into a single compact unit, the solution improves network efficiency while reducing physical footprint, power consumption, and operational complexity. This one-box digital architecture enables faster deployment, simplified maintenance, and more efficient network management compared to traditional multi-unit installations.

The deployment strengthens du’s leadership in indoor 5G coverage and supports the UAE’s broader digital transformation ambitions.
