Ericsson and Zain Bahrain expand 5G partnership

Ericsson and Zain Bahrain have announced an expanded strategic partnership to deploy advanced 5G solutions in the Kingdom, centred on Ericsson’s Local Packet Gateway with Edge User Plane technology. The initiative is designed to strengthen Bahrain’s digital infrastructure, support national digital economy goals, and accelerate the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies.

The new solution will deliver faster, more secure, and resilient connectivity with ultra-low latency across Zain Bahrain’s network. This will enable enterprises and government entities to scale digital transformation initiatives and support advanced use cases such as AI-driven predictive maintenance, autonomous systems, and real-time industrial monitoring.

By integrating Edge User Plane capabilities, Zain Bahrain’s network will be optimised for performance-critical applications, allowing organisations to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance overall productivity. The deployment creates a foundation for next-generation industrial innovation across multiple sectors.
