Oman Broadband Company plans to connect one million residential units to its fiber-optic network over the next three years, reinforcing the Sultanate’s core digital infrastructure and expanding access to high-quality digital services across sectors. The initiative aligns with Oman’s broader digital transformation agenda and aims to support economic growth and improved public services nationwide.
In a statement to Oman News Agency, Sultan Ahmed al Wahibi, CEO of Oman Broadband, said the company’s fiber-optic network had reached 926,884 units across the country by the end of November 2025. Of these, 415,792 units are located in Muscat Governorate, while 511,092 units are in other governorates. Active subscribers reached 326,406, surpassing the 320,000 milestone for the first time since the company’s establishment.
Wahibi noted that network coverage in Muscat now exceeds 87 per cent of units, while coverage outside the capital stands at approximately 56 per cent nationwide. He said the company is continuing to invest in core infrastructure and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders to achieve its one-million-unit target over the next three years.
Oman Broadband is also developing advanced digital networks in Sultan Haitham City, Al Khuwair Downtown, and the A’Thuraya City project, in line with smart city standards. These developments are designed to support future expansion while enabling high-speed connectivity for residential areas, educational institutions, commercial facilities, and government services.
Since its establishment in 2014, Oman Broadband’s total investments and movable assets have exceeded RO327 million, reflecting its long-term commitment to advancing the national telecommunications sector. In 2025, network expansion included the wilayats of Bukha and Dibba in Musandam Governorate, while Khasab and Madha were covered in earlier phases, alongside several other wilayats across the Sultanate.
Wahibi highlighted that the company’s Omanisation rate exceeds 99 per cent of its workforce, with 39 per cent of work awarded to small and medium enterprises. The company has implemented initiatives to help SMEs qualify for larger projects and achieve international certifications, while also supporting community programmes in education, health, sports, and youth empowerment.
Through continued expansion of fiber-optic coverage in urban and rural areas, Oman Broadband aims to strengthen the digital economy and enhance quality of life by enabling reliable, high-speed internet services across education, healthcare, business, and government sectors.
