North Africa’s 5G wave continues with Libya launch

Libya’s second-largest state-owned operator, Almadar Aljadid, has launched 5G services in central Tripoli, marking the country’s formal entry into the 5G era.

The initial rollout is limited to key areas of the capital, with plans for phased citywide and nationwide expansion. The operator said the deployment will significantly enhance service quality and support sectors such as healthcare and education through faster, more reliable connectivity.

With Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, and Algeria having launched 5G throughout 2025, Libya’s move means all African nations along the Mediterranean coast have now introduced 5G services.
